Changing the world, one notebook at a time

That's me. Elizabeth. Entrepreneur. Mom. Original Wide Ruled Rebel. As we settle into October, it feels like a collective inhale and exhale are in order.

I love this time of year - we've figured out the rhythm of online school and are enjoying quiet nights and the rain on our roof. I love Halloween, falling leaves and family Thanksgivings on good dishes we see once a year. Our home is not Instagram ready. My kids could pick up more often. The bathrooms need cleaning, badly. But its more than enough.

A few years ago, my mother-in-law said, “You know the thing about you? You still believe you can change the world.” Over the 18 years I've known my husband, I've seen the force of nature that is my mother-in-law and I took her words as a compliment

Wide Ruled Rebel is meant to change the world. One notebook and one family at a time. Its humble: a simple notebook wrapped in a kraft cover. But we obsess over these notebooks much the same way we obsess over our Zoom background or the latest update to the Apple iOS software. Don't believe me? Check out our blog post on the subject.

We believe that writing is more important than ever. Not on scraps of paper or cheap plastic notebooks. But, on products that are worthy of our hopes, dreams, thoughts, and fears.

We built Wide Ruled Rebel as an alternative to the piles of commoditized junk for sale in our local stores. This is only our start. But we are clear on where we are going:

Wide Ruled Rebel equips students to write their own future.

That means we:

  • Encourage individual expression - of all kinds

  • Make tools designed for today's students and the people they are becoming

  • Respect the planet by reducing waste and responsibly using our resources

We are a bootstrapped startup and a lot like you all - finding our way in this crazy world. If you like what we are doing, share it. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook or sign up for email in the footer anywhere on our site.

Now - off to clean that bathroom!
